The American people aren’t stupid.  We in the academy don’t do ourselves any favors by suggesting otherwise as we try to explain the policymaking process.

Bill Weld has reemerged this campaign cycle as a big booster for GOP nominee Charlie Baker.  He's also reminded us that he's not really a party man.

The national media “covering” the Massachusetts gubernatorial election have a narrative and they are sticking to it.  Never mind that it is both lazy and unoriginal.

This past spring, I put together a hierarchy of Massachusetts political endorsements.  As we approach election day, I am republishing with some updates.  One big caveat; No one endorsement is a game changer.  Elizabeth Warren couldn’t save John Tierney, Michael Dukakis couldn’t boost Mike Lake, and Mitt Romney couldn’t bring more Republicans into the Legislature in 2004.  Candidates and conditions (statewide and national) matter.

Evan Falchuk is not going to be elected Governor in November.  But that was never his goal and not a sufficient reason to ignore him or disinvite him from televised political forums.

Massachusetts can provide a model for the kind of change we need in the dangerous method we currently employ to choose vice presidential candidates.

If you’re wondering whether a 501 (c) 4 can jump the shark, take a look at the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance’s recent voter education effort.
