Outgoing U.S. Department of Education Undersecretary Ted Mitchell (New Schools Venture Fund)

Betsy DeVos, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for Secretary of Education, is expected to undergo her confirmation hearing on Tuesday, and replace U.S. Secretary of Education John B King, Jr.

DeVos supports a free-market approach to public education and is expected to take federal education policy in a very different direction from that of her predecessor.

On Campus’ Kirk Carapezza recently sat down with U.S. Undersecretary of Education Ted Mitchell, who reflected on the Department's accomplishments under President Barack Obama’s administration.
