It's one of the defining political debates of 2016 here in Massachusetts—but so far, we haven't seen or heard supporters and opponents of legalizing recreational marijuana sitting down face-to-face to hash things out. (Get it???)

Enter the Scrum! On this week's episode, Jim Borghesani, spokesman for the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, debates the merits of that proposal with State Sen. Jason Lewis, who chairs the state Senate's Special Committee on Marijuana and is also representing the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy Massachusetts, which opposes legalization.

Among the topics discussed: does Lewis agree with Governor Charlie Baker that legalizing pot would set back the fight against opioid addiction (yes, ultimately; start at 5:39). And do Borghesani and his allies regret that photo illustration showing Baker and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh—who's a recovering alcoholic—urging people to "drink more alcohol" (yes; jump to 17:40 and then 19:38 for a full-fledged apology).

Have a listen. Tweet us your thoughts at @wgbhnews, @kadzis, or @reillyadam. And as always, thanks.

Marijuana, recreational marijuana, mapoli
