A little while ago, a guy named Mike Connolly won a Democratic primary for state representative--beating a longtime incumbent, Tim Toomey, in what a lot of people considered an upset. Since there’s no Republican running, it’s a foregone conclusion that Connolly will represent Somerville and Cambridge on Beacon Hill in the near future. But Connolly’s not just a fresh political face—he’s an alum of Occupy Boston. And his win suggests that the energies that drove Occupy are now beginning to transform state politics. So we asked Mike to come by WGBH to talk about the Occupy effect—along with Nadeem Mazen, another Occupy alum who’s been a Cambridge city councilor for a few years now. Take a listen.
