Pete Stidman, formerly of the Boston Cyclists Union, met us at the Casey Overpass in Jamaica Plain (on his bike, of course.) Credit: Amanda McGowan

This week, The Scrum went for a ride. Reporter Adam Reilly sat down with outgoing Boston Cyclists Union leader Pete Stidman—who will now join the consulting firm Howard Stein Hudson to work on transportation projects—to discuss the politics of getting around on two wheels in the city.

Stidman met us near the construction site of the Casey Overpass, a crumbling highway bridge slated to become a tree-lined biker's paradise called Casey Arborway. He talked with us about how far Boston has come as a cycling city, and what moves need to be made to keep riders safe on the streets after a young woman was killed while biking in Back Bay last week.
